Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
The Junior League of Greater Covington was founded in 1977 by nine women, mostly young wives and mothers, who decided there were needs in the community that they could address by working together to develop a project to meet those needs and support that project until it is able to stand on its own.
What is your primary product or service?
Junior League of Greater Covington is an organization that promotes voluntarism and develops the potential of women to improve our community by training volunteers focused on educational and charitable endeavors.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
YMCA for western St. Tammany & a Meals on Wheels program for shut-ins began under League tutelage. The League helped form the Youth Service Bureau, Northlake Nature Center, Highway 190 Beautification Program (which grew into several local anti-litter and beautification efforts, including the Tree Alliance, landscaping standards for St. Tammany Parish, Keep Covington Beautiful, and Keep Mandeville Beautiful), P.R.I.D.E.
